Art as Therapy - Express, Explore, Heal, Hope, Transcend
Private Art Classes
As an artist of over 24 years, it is a great joy to introduce fine art and creative expression to children, teens, adults and seniors.
My experience includes over 20 years of teaching art to preschoolers through senior citizens.  For example;  I developed private art classes called "self-esteem builders" for preschoolers and kindergartners, taught an "Art Literacy" program at a private elementary school, facilitated an open art studio to teenagers at the Ryther Child Center, taught private mosaic art classes to children and adults, and worked with the Dale Chihule program called Seniors Making Art.
Art classes are structured to include the fundamental elements of art including; line, shape/form, color, value, space & texture.  Also covered are the principles of art composition including; design, proportion, dominance (emphasis), rhythm, movement, balance, unity & variety.  Multiple mediums are used such as watercolor paint, acrylic paint, chalk pastels, oil pastels, colored pencils, graphite pencils, clay, collage and a large variety of appropriate papers/surfaces/tools.
Sessions include
"Art Literacy", which: 1) introduces famous artists, artistic styles, and a variety of media.
2) encourages observation, curiosity, and critical thinking.
3) reinforces the fundamental elements & principles of art.
Sessions include time for hands-on instruction followed by time for application of the lesson in the student's unique artwork.
